Here are all the games I played during the second half of summer!

1. Map Map - A Game About Maps 📌

"In this game YOU make the maps! Become the cartographer of a small adventure crew and use proper navigation tools like a real explorer. Map the environment to turn unknown islands into a hand-drawn journey toward a legendary treasure."

If you're the type of person who loves precision, who looks at in-game maps and thinks to themselves, "I could make a better one," then this is a game for you 😂

Honestly, I had fun the first 2, maybe 3 levels...then I just got frustrated lol To be fair, this is not the game for me and I knew it before starting it but wanted to give it a try. I like adventure, I like solving puzzles and this game offers only a tiny bit of both. You've got to do the same thing over and over again - walk around, memorize where things are, use tools to measure distances and draw things on the map.

My orientation skills have always been awful, but this game made me think I'd get lost in my own house 😂 I'd literally redo the same "mark" 10 times and I still wouldn't get 3 stars...Then I'd realize I've been moving the "pin" in the wrong direction...

It's not the game's fault that I'm not good at it so I'm gonna be fair and give it a middle rating because the graphics are really cute and the concept itself will make a lot of people happy 😂

2. A Completely Fictional Story About a City Inside a Whale

"Travel on a wind-up boat and complete quests in the charming town of Whaleville located inside a whale."

That one-sentence description tells you everything you need to know 😂 You gotta wind up your boat to go, you have a million little quests to solve and you're doing all of this inside a whale lol

The artwork is so charming and unique, I haven't seen anything like it in a long time. The controls are smooth and the whole game is quite funny - from the dialogues to the quests themselves. I mean, what to expect from a town inside a whale? 😂 There's lots of breaking the 4th wall and I LOVED IT.

My only issue with it is the fact that some quests could've been more precise. I'd spend hours driving around in the boat wondering what the heck this person wanted. On one hand, I love it when a game gives me a though puzzle, on the other hand, if said puzzle takes me too long to solve, it becomes tedious. But as I said, there are only a few of those that I managed to solve anyway.

Honorable Mentions 🍕

There are 2 more games that I played because I got this sudden urge to revisit some childhood faves lol

The first one is Turbo Pizza and I've always been a fan of these restaurant-type time management games.

The graphics are exactly what you'd expect from the early 2000s and playing it was such a blast! 😂 I missed the simplicity of these games - you've just gotta serve the right customer at the right time with the right thing. While the process is simple, the end result is not. Sometimes I'd even have to redo a level to get the "perfect" score. It's all about timing and making combos which was so fun!

The other game I played is a newer sequel of an older game, and that is Delicious Emily's Home Sweet Home!

The first game in this series came out in 2006, but this sequel is from 2015 so the graphics are a lot different. The base gameplay is the same like the game above, but I have to admit this one was a bit harder!

There were numerous times when I had to redo a level because I hadn't either a) finished the assignment or b) collected all 3 stars. It may look sweet, but lemme tell you something - YOU'LL GO CRAZY. In a good way though 😂

Have you played any of the games mentioned above? Or do you plan to in the future?
