Guyss it's finally DONE 😍 Creating a reading challenge is definitely harder than expected (now I appreciate all the ones I joined even more) because I really wanted to draw everything myself (and that took agessss). I tried coming up with some interesting prompts, so I hope you enjoy them!
First up, here's the official banner and some info! Also, feel free to download all the images and use them in your own posts 🥰
The Flower Market challenge, as the name suggests, is all about flowers! The prompts will reflect specific details about each flower, and the goal is to collect as many flower cards as you want/can! 🥰 Since it's spring-related, the challenge will run till the 21st of June - so you have plenty of time! The main goal is to have fun 😊
You can also combine prompts as you wish. 😄 My plan is to actually make this a yearly thing and each year add some new flowers (aka cards) so each time you participate, you have something new to discover (and collect!). Now onto the prompts!

1. Rose Lily
This flower is actually a hybrid of the popular Lilium with the full-bodied look of a Rose. Not only that, but it's also got large, double blooms. Basically, everything about this flower is double! Keeping that in mind, the prompt for this flower is:
Two genres combined.
- it can be any genre, you can choose a historical fantasy, a paranormal mystery, a romantic comedy etc.
2. Angel's Trumpets
The Angel's Trumpet, with its pale yellow (or pink) hues, looks pretty cute, but don't let it fool you - it's one of the most toxic ornamental plants! That's why, the prompt for this flower is:
Unassuming cover.

3. Skeleton Flower
While it usually has white petals, when it comes into contact with water, this flower becomes translucent and barely visible! This glass/fragile effect, made me think of books that fly under the radar. so the prompt this time is:
Less than 1000 ratings.
- find a book on Goodreads (or any other book tracking website) that has fewer than 1000 ratings. Depending on which website you use, instead of ratings, you can look for the number of reviews.
4. Chocolate Cosmos
This flower has it all - sparkling petals that give a sort of galaxy-looking appearance and a scent resembling chocolate! No wonder it's so popular 😂 Keeping that popularity in mind, find a book with:
A 4.5 rating or higher.
- similarly to the previous prompt, you can either use Goodreads or any other book tracking website to find highly rated books. P.S. after some consideration (and feedback, thanks Anna!), a direct 4.5 rating could be very hard to find. You should definitely expand that to include ratings that round up to that number, aka 4.45-4.49!
5. Hoya Flower
The Hoya has an inflorescence that is made up of numerous flowers. Basically, these flowers always come in groups! I also prefer my books in groups 😂 That's why, for this flower, find:
A series with 4 books or more.
- remember that book series with a million sequels that everyone recommends? Well, now's the time to pick it up 😂 For this prompt, you only need to read ONE book from a series, not all of them. It can be anywhere in the order (maybe you need to finish a series, so read the last book, or maybe you're halfway in so read that sequel that's been waiting on your shelf!)
6. Bird of paradise
These flowers that resemble the birds they are named after are usually very fun-looking and colorful! Every reading challenge needs at least one easy prompt, and that's this one 😂
Colorful cover.
- colorful can mean a lot of different things, so feel free to interpret this in any way you want - it can have lots of different colors, or it can have a few but bright and saturated colors, whatever you like!
This is my very first reading challenge, so I'm both very excited and nervous! 😅 If you have any tips for me on how to improve it next time, feel free to say so in the comments! Any sort of feedback is welcome and much appreciated 🥰
I hope you guys enjoy it and have fun! While I know we're all probably participating in too many challenges already, why not add another one? 😂😂 Sometime during April, I'll also post my TBR for this challenge (I haven't yet decided on all the books 😅).
P.S. This is a later addition, but if you want to, you can use one of these images to showcase which cards you collected:

Do you like participating in reading challenges? Which ones are your favorite?

Goddamnit Jane, you know challenges are my weakness 😆 Obviously I'm joining 🤣 I love the concept of the flowers!! And it's only 6 prompts, so it should be totally doable! Yay! I'm excited!
ReplyDeleteP.S. All your drawings are gorgeous! 😍
hahahah I knew you wouldn't be able to resist 😎♥ But thank you anyways for joining, it means a lot to me 🥰
DeleteYesss "totally doable" was actually on my mind when I was creating it lol I'm totally serious - I knew we were already a quarter of the year in and it needed to be something that won't make people go insane 😂 So thank you for noticing!! 🥰
If someone I know and like create their own challenge, OF COURSE I HAVE TO JOIN! I was mad when I saw the title because I doubted I could join, but 6 prompts is very doable, so I am glad.
ReplyDeleteThose flowers do not look like drawings, they're so well done they could pass as graphics or pictures, well done! I really like the Rose Lilly and Chocolate Cosmos one.
I have some ideas for the prompts, but I want to think about it more before posting my TBR.
I'm so excited!
Thank you girl so much!! Your support means a lot to me 🥰♥ I was thinking the same thing! Anything more than 6 would've probably become a chore, this way it's more manageable 😄
Deleteomgosh those flowers were the hardest to draw, but they're also my faves! Especially the Cosmos one because it's sparkly 😂
Ohhh I can't wait to see what you chose! I'm still not fully done with my list either 😅
Wait, I did not receive a notification for this, and it is also not letting me reply to you directly, so I had to do it like this. I wonder if I've missed on other replies now, and I feel so bad! So sorry.
DeleteAlso, if you did 8 it would have been a weird number, and 10 might have been too much. This way it is like 2 a month. You could have done 3 a month, but 9 is not a round number and like this you can test things out as well.
Really? Maybe since they were more difficult, which I get since they seem more intricate, you paid more attention to them. I am not big on flowers, so this is a way for me to learn about them as well.
Let's see if I stick to the ones I posted about.
