Screen Adaptations - Yes ✔ or No? ❌

It's time for the Book Blog Hop! Here's the official description:

The first iteration of the Book Blogger Hop, which was started in March 2010 by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books, ended on December 31, 2012. On February 15, 2013, Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer reintroduced the hop with Jennifer's approval. The hop will begin on a Friday of each week and end on a Thursday of the following week. Every week, there will be a prompt with a book-related query. The aim of the blog hop is to provide bloggers with an opportunity to follow other blogs, discover new books, make friends with other bloggers, and gain new followers for their own sites.

This week's question is:

🐇 "Is there a book or series so precious to you that you wouldn’t want it adapted for screen, fearing it might be ruined? If it did happen, would you still find yourself watching it?" 🐇

There are many books to choose from because let's be real - there are fewer good than bad adaptations. E.g., I loved THG movies, but Divergent was terrible, as well as The Knife of Never Letting Go. The Maze Runner was okay, but The Giver was atrocious. I could rant for days, alas, I'll get back to the topic.

I chose these three because I have three different reasons why an adaptation would probably be a bad idea 😅

First up, the Gallagher Girls series. Out of the three series I mentioned, this one would technically be easiest to make because it's set in the real world and Hollywood already knows how to make spy-related content, AND YET. Here's the thing - if you truly want to make a good adaptation, YOU HAVE TO do all of the books, otherwise it makes no sense and this series has a lot of books 😂 A TV series would best suit it, but since streaming services nowadays just love to cancel shows before they should, I don't trust them with my precious baby. Even if they made the best acting choices, scripts, etc., if they cancel it in the middle of the story, what's the point?

Then we have Aurora Rising. I think SFF books would only work on the big screen if you have a huge budget (and people who are passionate about the project and not just looking for the next big payout). There are so many things that need to be made by CGI or whatever effects they need, but if you don't do it perfectly, it won't make sense.

Last, but not least, is The Prison Healer. Now this one, how do I explain it? The story is so rich, so powerful, I don't know if I'd trust anyone to do it justice. The actors would have such a difficult job because there are so many subtle changes in characters, their emotions, and inner battles in each scene, which would be impossible to achieve. Not to mention the characters are lying and scheming half of the time without the reader realizing it, even though the author drops hints.

And yet...if they ever released adaptations in any shape or form of these books, I'd definitely watch them. If not for anything else, then to judge and review them on this blog 😂 There's always some hope it'll turn out good and well, I'm too curious not to see it.

💬 Would you trust them with your favorite books? 💬
