Reading Challenge Updates - Q3 2025

Usually I do these updates immediately after the quarter ends, but since I had that dreadful blogging/reading slump, I forgot to do it in September. At least this extra month gave me the opportunity to make excellent progress!

First up, we have the A to Z challenge, and I've only added 2 books I think. Recently I made a quick index of the letters left and which books on my TBR could fit these letters and let me tell you - X, Y and Z should be removed from the alphabet 😂 I ended up making my own rules on what counts and what doesn't so I don't care anymore 😂

Stats: 19 out of 26 (73%) ✦ 8% ↑ since last time 😄

Next up is the Key Word challenge! There's only one prompt left for me, and that's the March one which I plan to complete very soon by reading Needy Little Things.

Stats: 11 out of 12 (91%) ✦ 50% ↑ since last time 😄

Moving on with a challenge from the same authors, and that's the Motif challenge. I DID IT!!! I'm so happy because it was one of the trickier challenges for me. The prompts were very detailed and sometimes require you to find a specific plot line. I had so much fun trying to sort through my TBR and find everything that fits.

Stats: 12 out of 12 (100%) ✦ 34% ↑ since last time 😄

Rainbow Challenge is ALSO DONE! Guys, I'm on a roll 😂 This one was fairly simple, I just waited for the right book by reading books for my other challenges.

Stats: 10 out of 10 (100%) ✦ 50% ↑ since last time 😄

Next is the Read With Allison Challenge which I think I'll never do again simply because keeping track of it is such a hassle. If it were the only challenge I was doing that'd be fine, or at least one of two. Since I have so many challenges, this one seems over the top. The prompts don't excite me too much so I think I won't be doing it next year.

When it comes to progress, I only have 3 prompts left, thank God 😂

Stats: 49 out of 52 (94%)  27% ↑ since last time 😄

Then we have the Buzzwordathon Cover Challenge, which is another one I finished 😍 I had so much fun doing it, and I plan on adding it to my "regular" challenge list and doing it again next year.

Stats: 12 out of 12 (100%) ✦ 34% ↑ since last time 😄

Last but not least is the 25 Books In 2025. I added a few books but the problem is, I DNF-ed 2 and I don't know what to do now. Do I replace them again?? I already did this once so I don't know which books to choose. These are supposed to be books I'm extra excited about and I already added all of those. I'll have to think on it some more.

Stats: 15 out of 25 (60%) ✦ 16% ↑ since last time 😄

To sum up, I ended up finishing 3 challenges! I'm so happy that I've managed to do it 2 months early so I can focus on the harder prompts and generally just take a slower pace. The one I'm doing the worst in is definitely 25 Books in 25 because I keep DNF-ing books from it 😂 The A to Z one is the second worst, but I have a plan in mind so I'm not particularly stressed about it. All in all, I'm very satisfied 😄

How are you guys doing in your challenges?

  1. You're doing SO WELL!!!! The Read with Allison looked very tough so I did not do it in the end, but despite what you say, you only have 3 prompts left, and they are not as difficult, so I think you can totally do it!

I have tried some of these as well and I have only completed the Rainbow one. I think it was a very nice one because it was quite laid-back but a challenge nonetheless, so once I had a color, I tried finding the best shade or the one that had most of that color on the cover.

I think both the Motif and Key Word challenges are one step farther from the Buzzword one, because they give you more options, yet the words are actually challenging. I tried the three of them (well, four, counting the cover buzzword) and I haven't been checking the words too much, and I probably should, but I know I will not complete them.

About the 25 books in 2025, I'd say count those DNFs! If it were earlier in the year, you could switch them up, but to be honest, they were on your list, you tried them and they didn't work for you, but you still gave them a chance, so mark them. I did not realize you also have Stars and Smoke in your list. I am already wondering what to do for 2026, since there is no way I am adding 26 books in there, and 13 is not a very nice number.

Good luck with these last prompts!

    1. Thanks girl! The Allison one was my least fave and the only bright side was that I was extremely lucky with some of my mood reads aka they fit lots of prompts so I didn't have to actively look for them.

It's true! You're amazing at all the color related challenges/prompts. Somehow you always manage to find the perfect shade! ♥

I agree with you, the Motif and Key Word one are somewhere in between - they can be challenging, but if you plan it right, it's not that big of a deal.

You know what? I might just do that! Since they're already on the list and I did try them, they should count. Stars and Smoke was amazing! The sequel as well!

  2. You are doing SO good on all of these! And to have completed a couple of challenges already? You're gonna do great this year! Shockingly, for me, I'm actually trying right now to complete some prompts. I never do that lol. I typically read a book and if it fits a prompt it fits. But I started trying last month, so we will so how far I can get.

    1. Thanks!! I have to admit, I planned this year's challenges quite well + had some extreme luck during my "almost in a reading slump" months 😂

Good for you girl!! I can't wait to see how this experiment goes 😂 It can be a hit and miss kinda situation - sometimes by forcing myself to read something for the sake of a challenges ends up being great because I love the book, but sometimes it clashes with my mood too much and I end up disliking the book just for that 😅 Then again...I'd never finish any challenges if I didn't actively try to finish some prompts, ahhh
