Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. Here is the topic of the week:
✨ New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2024 ✨
It's time to showcase all the new authors that wowed me last year!
First up, we've got Jane Hur. I've read her Red Palace novel earlier in the year and while it didn't wow me, it had some decent qualities. Then I read A Crane Among Wolves and it was so good!! She is clearly getting better and I'm excited to see what else she comes up with 😄
Next, we've got Ben Oliver who wrote one of the best dystopians I've read last year. His name sounded familiar but I couldn't place him and then after investigating on GR, I saw he's the one who wrote The Loop - a dystopian series I've been wanting to read for some time but forgot about it 😂
Last in this row is an author whose debut novel BLEW ME AWAY. Alexis Patton is a woman who wrote a book that gave me the exact feels young me felt when she first read about Tris and Four. Look, I loved Divergent, but I pretend the sequels don't exist because REASONS. 😂
Ravena Guron wrote a fun, fast-paced academic murder mystery and I'm really looking forward to reading more from her! I saw that she has a couple of more mysteries so I'll probably check those out 😄
It takes a lot for me to love a historical romance, so I have to congratulate Sally Nicholls because not only did she pull that off, she's written one of few novels that actually focuses on FRIENDSHIPSSS ♥ I love those. I love romance too, but sometimes you just need a dose of healthy girl friendships and support systems.
While on topic of friendships, you can find good ones in Swarm, a novel by Jennifer D. Lyle where giant butterflies swarm and kill people. Perfect atmosphere to make your friendship bonds even stronger 😂 She also wrote wonderful sibling interactions and lots of creepy scenes that'll pull you in.
I definitely appreciate the way Mur Lafferty twisted his story and delivered shocking plot twists, so you bet I'm gonna follow his work closely from now on 😂
It's hard to pull off a complex story and believable characters in a novella, but Mira Grand did it. Her story was super creepy and action-packed. I already added some of her other stories to my TBR!
I was surprised in the best way by Annah Conwell's cute romance book and honestly, I'll probably binge the whole series during summer. I can't wait!!! ♥
This list wouldn't be complete without the queen of weird humor and banter - Hannah Nicole Maehrer. I can't believe this is her debut novel because I fell in love with it so much!! 😍

There are some books out there whose sequels I pretend don’t exist, too. You’re not alone. :)
ReplyDelete😂😂 I guess it's a universal problem
DeleteTHIS BOOK KILLS sounds like my kind of read. I love a good murder mystery! I'm glad you discovered some great new authors in 2024.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
I recommend it a lot! ♥ Happy TTT to you too!
DeleteWe have June Hur in common 😊 although I'll have to admit that I hope I get on better with Red Palace than you did as I actually own that one 😅 I loved A Crane Among Wolves though and also really want to try Forest Of Stolen Girls by her one day although I'm waiting until I've read my owned one, especially as my library doesn't stock it 😔
ReplyDeleteI actually haven't heard of a lot of the others 🙈 although I have seen Assistant To The Villian around a lot. It sounds like you read an interesting mixture of genres too which is always nice.
Here's hoping 2025 brings even more new author discoveries your way.
I hope you love Red Palace more than I did! It definitely wasn't a bad book, I just wasn't in the mood for that much historical-event descriptions and slow pace 😅 I haven't even heard of Forest Of Stolen Girls until you mentioned it 😮 I'll have to check it out now 😂
DeleteAssistant To The Villian definitely deserves all the hype it's getting 😂 I hope you have fun and read all the best reads in '25!
So many good authors! 😍 I am very intrigued by The Kill Factor! It sounds SO interesting! It's been a minute since I read a dystopian book, but I've added it to my tbr for when the mood strikes. Lol.
ReplyDeleteYesss please read it!! I think you'd enjoy it very much 😏 It has the perfect amount of gore, mystery and social criticism
