Duck Detective: The Secret Salami

I actually started writing this post yesterday,  but I had a fever and literally just fell asleep. Aside from having a horrible headache, I've also coughed my soul out 😂 Basically, this weekend hasn't been fun 😅

Moving on to the actual point of this post, let's review this cozy mystery game!

Steam description:

Solving crime is no walk in the pond. You are a down-on-his-luck detective who also happens to be a duck. Use your powers of de-duck-tion to inspect evidence, fill in the blanks, and bust the case wide open! This is a short but twisty detective case.

First of all, doing so many duck puns is pure brilliance and dedication 😂 The whole game is quite silly and the humor fits just right. They don't go overboard so it's not cringe. 

When it comes to the visuals, it's got vibrant autumn colors. The style is unique where the characters are 2D but you can move about as if it's 3D. Not to mention, ALL of the dialogue is narrated by actors. This tells me they really put their all into this game. Most of the time it's an undescript sound when characters are talking, so it was a nice addition to have real people voicing the characters. 

Investigating has multiple parts. For example, once you search through the room and examine every object, you can also interrogate the suspects about the things you found. You can also examine the people and learn things about them.

Once you've collected everything you need, you get to make logical "deducktions" in your journal. This is the only part that I had a slight issue with. There aren't that many options so you can solve this pretty easily, but that's not the only problem. If you mess a part of the deduction, the game tells you how many mistakes you've made so you can just guess your way out. 

I wish it was a tad bit harder so I can actually feel some satisfaction by solving the case completely on my own. Other than that, the game is adorable, short and worth your time. 

I definitely recommend playing this, especially during autumn because it's got the perfect cozy mystery vibe for it 🍂🔍
