New week means new Monday bookish meme hosted by The Book Date.
Finished 3 books since last time and only the first one was mildly disappointing - Under the Surface. I gave it 3 stars because there were a few intense scenes and a plot twist I didn't see coming, but the beginning was quite slow. Also, the "major" plot reveal felt bland and very predictable.
That's why, when I picked up Codebreaker immediatelly after, I WAS BLOWN AWAY. This book is amazing both interactively (you can pause when reading and try to solve ciphers on your own) and plot wise. I loved the characters, loved the plot, loved the writing style...the only teeny tiny issue I had with it is the fact that it has a bit of an insta love situation. Although, you probably wouldn't notice it much because the romance takes up such a small percentage of the book that it's not that big of a deal.
Then I continued my reread session of The Naturals and had an emotional time reading the last book Bad Blood. I'm still not over it years later 😂 If anyone ever decides to make this a TV series I'd die of happiness seing my babies on the small screen.

This is a novella set a few years after the events of the last book and this is also quite literally the last time I'll have a chance to read about these characters 😭😭 The author doesn't plan on going back to this universe so yeah...I'm gonna go cry in a corner or something.
I mean, this is my third time reading it so I should be prepared BUT I'M NOT.

I'm definitely not a poetry type of person, I never fully understood it but I have a reading challenge prompt that requires it so yeah...I remembered Rupi Kaur because some of my friends read her work ages ago and loved it. 😊

What are you currently reading? What are you planning on reading next?

I haven't read The Naturals (yet), but I know it would make an amazing TV show for sure! Most of JLB books would though.
ReplyDeleteThat's so true! Her books are always action packed and have plots that would fit those police procedural show types 😃
