After all the romance, I was in the mood for something completely opposite - murdery thrillers 🔪 There's just something special about reading a suspenseful, twisty book and not knowing what's gonna happen next 😍

🏰 The Party by Natasha Preston ★★
The first 2/3 were firmly a 2-star read, but luckily for me, the last third managed to pull the book through. Now it's a 2.5 star read and I don't consider it a complete waste of time, just a partial waste 😂
I literally couldn't care less about any of these teens because they were so freaking annoying. They kept making the same dumb cliche horror movie mistakes even after they literally started dying, they still ignored all the warning signs....Yeah, let's split up even though Dude #1 died 10 minutes ago when we split up the last time...

Then, instead of suspecting each other - because they are probably the only ones there with both motive and opportunity- they keep repeating the same conversations and arguments. Not to mention, they didn't even accept the danger until it was far too late. They were literally like "oh no, someone stole all of our phones, one of us is dead, the cars were messed with...but it can't be connected, it's probably just a coincidence..."

I will admit the last third was far more suspenseful and intriguing. The plot twists actually saved the book and I truly had no idea where it would go. The ending was by far the best part.

🔦 We Were Warned by Chelsea Ichaso ★★★★
Now this was actually a bit spooky. It's more of a thriller than a horror, but some scenes were very suspenseful. In the last two books I read, the teens made all the wrong choices, but in this book, I was pleasantly surprised - they actually made decent deductions and always went in pairs/groups everywhere.

The pace was so good that there were literally no boring gaps or filler content. Multiple times throughout the story you're gonna get some new information and you're gonna have some theories but you're probably not gonna guess what actually happened 😂 The plot twists at the end especially made this book one worth checking out.
The only issue I had with it is something that has to do with relationships and character development...I'm gonna put it in the spoiler tag because some of it happens near the end of the book.

😨 That's Not My Name by Megan Lally ★★★★★!!
Yep, I definitely see why this was a GR Choice Awards Nominee...THIS WAS BRILLIANT.
From start to finish, the pacing is just right - everything is intense, slightly scary because it's realistic and of course, the plot twists make you go insane in the best way. When I read that ending I was like YESSSS but also NOOOO and if you read the book you'll know why 😂😅

This book managed to make me feel so many things and it did that UNDER 300 PAGES!! That's right, short books FTW ♥
I absolutely adored both Drew and The Girl (Mary). They were both so strong, so resilient and resourceful. They never gave up and fought so hard. Honestly, that epilogue even made me a tiny bit emotional...
