New week means new Monday bookish meme hosted by The Book Date.
I finished two quite different thrillers last week. We Were Warned was a vibey, teens investigating old "haunted" houses while being chased by a killer type of story. It was pretty decent, I gave it 3.5 stars but I rounded it to 4 on Goodreads because I was feeling generous 😂
That's Not My Name was something far better, dark and intense. I don't remember the last time I cared so much about characters in a thriller book (which is why I gave it 5 stars). I was at the edge of my seat wondering what'll happen to The Girl and that ending made me scream both NOOOOO and YESSSS at the same time 😂

I have mixed feelings about this...Idk if the last few chapters will save it but I can definitely see why this has such low ratings on Goodreads. The writing is repetitive and the characters make some questionable choices. Not to mention the main character is so ridiculously naive....oh well...

Super hyped for this "new" thriller from Holly Jackson!! Idk why I didn't read this sooner but nevermind, that's what I say about a lot of books 😂😂

What are you currently reading? What are you planning on reading next?

They might be very different, but the covers for your 2 last finished books have the same vibe, and from what you say, they fit the books well.
ReplyDeleteRight??? I noticed it too and it actually made me confused a couple of times, I kept switching the titles in my head 😂😂
DeleteOooh, did you draw some new headers? Or am I just not observant? 😂 Either way, I love them!
ReplyDeleteSome very interesting looking books this week! I, too, am in a murder-y/horror mood lately 😆I'm reading a high fantasy right now for my tbr, but after that, back to horror!!
I did!!! Thank you for noticing 🤭 I realized I could never put multiple books in my "last read" because I only had space for one. That's why I had to redraw them - because I usually read 2 books in a week and want to talk about both 😂
DeleteYesss I love it when we synchronize 😂😂 I'll probably add some new books to my list after stalking your blog lol
