Star Trek and Turkish Dramas!

I haven't watched a single movie this month, but I have started a lot of new Turkish series 😏😍

To start off, I finally watched season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. That show is such a comfort watch - it's got all the colorful vibes of the OG series. I loved the new mysteries, new romantic pairings, and let's not forget the gorgeous CGI. Each scene was absolutely stunning!

I also watched the latest season of OMITB! I can't even express how much I love this show. From its wacky characters, ridiculous plot lines to shocking and hilarious endings...It's got everything.

Personally, I think they kept the quality of the show throughout all 5 seasons. Each one brought a new secondary cast of characters (usually some ultra popular actors that are obviously having too much fun filming this) and a unique mystery. One more thing I absolutely love about this show is that the writers know the premise is too ridiculous, and they keep breaking the fourth wall and making fun of themselves. Ahh it brings me such joy that they don't plan on stopping making these 😂

When it comes to Turkish series, I can't help myself but watch as many as I can at any given time 😂 They're just so much fun and the plots are crazy and how can they film a 2-hour episode EVERY WEEK while Americans need 2 years to film 5 1-hour episodes??? In any case, I appreciate their storytelling and speedy filming capabilities. Here are the ones I'm watching now:

Halef with it's crazy love triangle and two families on the verge of war has got the most drama. I absolutely love the actress playing Yildiz so of course I'm a YilSer shipper 😂😂 For some reason, I find Melek too annoying. It's also got a lot of jealousy, people cheating, scheming, smuggling etc. It's really, really, dramatic 😂

Tasacak Bu Deniz on the other hand is just on another level. The quality? Off the charts. Acting? Amazing. Plot? Stunning. While it's generally a serious show, it's got great comedic timing and the "funny scenes" are too good. Still, the ones where the characters have to go through something traumatic are the ones that steal the show - it's almost like I'm watching real people with real problems and not a scripted show. Honestly, these actors should be given all the awards possible 😂

Unfortunately, they cancelled Aynadaki Yabanci after episode 7 😭 It had so much potential and just when it started getting good, they decided to cancel it. You can tell that the last episode was rushed and they just wanted to use all the plot lines they planned on using later and just mashed it all up to give us a sense of a proper ending. I hated that last episode and I'll pretend that ending doesn't exist 😂

I also started watching Veliaht and have to admit I...almost dropped it? I got to episode 5 and there's absolutely nothing wrong with this series, truly! I actually enjoyed it (and the fact that it's about bus companies acting all mafia-like is truly so funny), but for some reason, my mood is pulling me towards other shows so I'm keeping this one for later. I'll probably get back to it next month when I run out of other shows 😂

  1. Turkish dramas are very popular here but I haven't watched any.
I totally agree with what you say about OMITB and I think that it is such a comfort show to watch, which is weird giving the premise. For a person that gets scared very easily but is interested in mystery, it is great for me! And I am so happy we got Logan Lerman this season.
I have only watched the Star Trek movies, but that poster you showed is really cool!
