October Games

All the games I played in October 😊

"Mine, refine, and sell gemstones in Gemporium, a cute, fast-paced shop management game. Upgrade your tools, expand your store, and master the daily rhythm of digging, polishing, and turning a profit to pay off your debt, one gem at a time."

This super cute lil game made me a bit too obsessed with digging 😂 The game mechanics are fairly simple, you click through dirt to find gems and then you go to your workshop and polish them - and YET it can still be a challenge. There's a time limit on how long you can go and dig up gems, and also a specific time when customers appear, so you'd better have some excellent time management skills!

There are also some upgrades to buy to make your job a bit easier. I absolutely loved the challenge, and all the silly banter/ backstory made this game even more enjoyable. I wish it were even longer, although you can surprisingly get quite a lot of gameplay out of it.

"Leave everything behind and open a tiny bookshop by the sea in this cozy narrative management game. Stock your tiny bookshop with different books and items, set up shop in scenic locations, and run your cozy second-hand bookshop while getting to know the locals."

If this isn't the perfect game for all of us readers, than idk what it. I spent an unhealthy amount of time playing this and feel like I could open a bookshop in real life 😂 There's so much to do - you can decorate your shop, talk to locals, recommend books, solve mysteries, try to get rich etc.

The locations where you can set up shop were gorgeous. Not to mention, each location has specific genres that would sell better and characters that would come visit you. You can see that a lot of love was poured into this game because the attention to detail is amazing. While you can play this game basically indefinitely, I decided to stop after reaching a certain big milestone. I don't wanna spoil the game but all of you who played, know what I'm talking about 😂 I felt as though my story came to a satisfying conclusion and found it as the perfect moment to move on. That doesn't mean I won't come back to it to get the few achievements I have left!

"In this first-person puzzle escape room game, you are trapped in the mysterious Mystwood mansion. Explore the mansion and find hidden compartments while solving puzzles and deciphering codes to find a way out. Will you escape or linger to uncover the mansion's final secret?"

While not a very long game, it still offers decent gameplay with lots of challenging puzzles. And I really mean challenging 😂 Or maybe my brain isn't what it used to be. In any case, I had lots of fun trying to figure things out.

I especially enjoyed the fact that you get to visit a wide variety of rooms - each with unique puzzles. There's a library, a room cellar, an office etc. It was mostly satisfying, but I do have one major complaint - there's no manual save mode, which means it only saves when you FINISH a room. Sometimes I'd get halfway through all the puzzles in the room and want to take a break, but nope, have to finish it otherwise I have to start all over again tomorrow.

Have you played any of these games?
