☕🍂 A weekend full of reading 🍁🧸
Hey guys, hope you're doing great! Recently, my friend Liliana participated in a readathon (which you can all read about HERE), and I got inspired to try it out myself! I'm just gonna steal her idea and do the same thing - update this post throughout the day 😅 I looked for upcoming readathons and found one that fits perfectly - both timewise and topicwise - and that's the Relax & Readathon by Reading Nimph. You can see her video below:
She is doing the readathon tomorrow, the 25th, and I wanted to use the same date with some modifications since this is the first weekend in quite some time that I literally have 90% of the time free. The only obligation I have is on Sunday morning, so I'm gonna start today to really use all of my time wisely. To sum up, my readathon is starting today, 15:00 (3pm) - all the way through Saturday, and will end on Sunday evening.
What I really love about this readathong, as the name suggests, it's very chill. You can make it a 24h readathon, a 48h one, make it last the whole week, or even a month! Everything is up to you. The main thing is that you relax, have fun, and truly take some time for yourself and your hobbies. That's why half of the prompts on the board game are "lifestyle prompts" that encourage you to enjoy nature, have a snack, take up a hobby, etc. In the video above, she's using the modified spooky board (which looks amazing, but some of the prompts don't fit my mood right now), but I'll be using her "default" board. She explains everything and even links to a Google Drive where you can download the board and all the prompt explanations.
As she says in the video, you can start wherever you want and move in whichever direction you feel like. I decided to start at the Reading goal next to the cupcake because I want to check off some of my reading challenge prompts before this month ends 😂 I picked some books in advance so it's easier for me to just dive in - all books fit the reading prompts on the board. I'll just choose the one that fits the prompt I step on the best.
One more thing that I'll try to focus on this weekend is blogging. Whenever I take a break from reading, I'll try to write as many blog posts as I can so don't be surprised if I also post some TV/game related content over this weekend while the readathon is still going on
It's currently 14:55, I already set up my cozy reading corner and can't wait to begin!
* Friday 20:40 *

Okay guys, the day is nearing its end and I have to admit, it's going better than expected 😂
In total so far, I read for almost 3h and I plan on continuing after this update. I already mentioned above that I picked the "Reading goal" (the black cat) as my starting position. For this, I picked the The Vacuum Of Space because a) it's for my reading challenge b) it's short and funny. I ended up finishing this book and I'm so happy!!! I knew starting with a shorter book would be motivating and I was right 😂 I feel so hyped right now.
Anyway, about halfway in, I took a break and rolled a few times. The first time, I got a 5 and moved to "Sweet Treat" where I had some hazelnut chocolate and made a chocolate cappuccino (if you can't tell, I'm a chocolate addict 😂). Then I rolled again and got another 5, which put me on the "Enjoy Nature" spot. I went on a bike ride and tried to truly look at the scenery - at all the changing autumn leaves, the cloudy sky right before it started to rain a bit. I go on bike rides every other day, but this time I wanted to take the opportunity to just relax, not think about anything in particular.
After coming back home, I continued reading and finished the book! It was so much fun and well, I can only thank Liliana again for this recommendation - truly, you're the real MVP of this readathon 😂
Next up, I rolled a 4 and got the "1st Book That Comes To Mind" and for that I picked Of Starlight and Bone because it gives me a similar vibe to The Vacuum Of Space - both are about young women trying to solve a murder in space 😂 I'm gonna start it tonight and see where it goes.
* Saturday 15:20*
Last night, my mood wasn't cooperating much in the reading department, so after reading for only about 20 minutes, I went and wrote a couple of blog post drafts. Idk why this productivity hit me suddenly, but I don't mind it 😂
Started off with a slower pace this morning, so after about half an hour of reading, I decided to roll again to see what awaits me next. Rolling 6 got me on "Reading goal" once more, and since the book I'm currently reading fits this description (I have it on my reading challenge TBR), I rolled again and got 6 - landed on "Enjoy Nature."
This was the perfect break I needed, so I took my dog for a walk to the nearby park. After coming back home, I read some more, and I'm currently around 50% in Of Starlight and Bone.

I have an unexpected meeting at 4pm, so I probably won't read more until I get back 😅 Still, I'm pretty satisfied because I'm truly enjoying this weekend so far.
* Saturday 21:20*
Once I got back from my meeting, I just started reading and immersed myself in the story - it was so good, I didn't even realize how fast time passed, and I finished my second book!
Let me tell you something, this book is SO UNDERRATED. Please read it. It's got a ragtag crew on a mission to save the universe from a terrifying threat, a badass MC who's part machine, and a poodle sidekick! It even verges a bit on the side of horror - not gonna spoil anything, but there's a drastic revelation one third in the book that moves the plot into darker territory. In a good way, of course.
Ahh I can't believe I read two amazing books in two days, and I'm so glad they've got sequels because after I'm done with this readathon, I plan on diving into those immediately 😂 Now, back to our board game.
After rolling a 4, I got "Move 3 Spaces" and landed on "Comfort Genre." For me, this would obviously be sci-fi, which is why all the books I picked for this readathon were of this genre. Since time travel is a subgenre I especially love (I blame it on Doctor Who), I decided to pick up Stolen Time next. I don't know if I'll read much tonight since I was so amazed by my last read - I wanna let it sink in a bit. Well, I have to say, despite the slow start, Saturday has been a success!
* Sunday 16:00*
I only read for an hour and a half so far today because I'm slowly losing energy 😂 The book I'm currently reading is a bit slower than the first two when it comes to plot - there are far more descriptions, which impacted my reading speed. At least I drafted another blog post, yay!
I'm also thinking of starting to decorate my 2026 reading journal. I bought it several months ago and it's been sitting in my desk drawer. I do this every year - buy it in advance, make a couple of spreads during November and December so when January rolls around, I have a journal ready to fill in with my new reads. 🥰
✨ READATHON RESULTS ✨
Okay, so Sunday was my weakest day. I ended up having a headache in the afternoon, so I only read a little bit more after the last update. Here are my stats:
I read for 7 hours and 37 minutes over the course of 2 and a half days 😄 It may not seem a lot because I know some people read the same amount in 24h, but I need my sleep and I usually read far less, so that's actually quite huge for me 😁
I finished 2 books and read 46% of Stolen Time. Besides that, I had a very relaxing weekend, focused more on nature, and just enjoyed my free time. All in all, I'm very happy with how this turned out - I knew there'd be ups and downs but in the end, it was all about having fun and enjoying your hobbies. 😊

Yay! I'm glad you found yourself a readathon! And now I kinda want to do this one too 😆 I typically only do Dewey's, but they don't come around too often. And you know, I got nothing going on this Halloween weekend except a giant stack of books eyeballing me 👀😂
ReplyDeleteThis was really fun to read! And what a good idea to write blog posts between reading sprints! And OMG you read The Vacuum of Space! Man, I love that universe! I just finished a book in the universe that follows a different character (you meet her in book two... she's awesome!) and it was as fun as always! I'm so, so glad you enjoyed it! And good job on the readathon! I'm a fairly slow reader too, so 2.5 books is great!
Omgosh I did and I'm so happy it happens every 2 months, because there's enough time to plan it in advance, but also not too much to forget about it 😂 Ohh then you have to try it too! I can already see you're gonna love the "spooky" game board 😍
DeleteThanks! I wanted to use my time in the best way possible and writing blog posts seemed like the most productive bookish thing besides reading 😂
Girl, The Vacuum of Space was SO. FREAKING. GOOD. I already checked out how many sequels it has and plan on reading it after finishing the rest of the Stolen Time trilogy. Now you also mention that there are SPIN OFFS YESSS LIFE HAS MEANING ♥
You know me so well 😆 I definitely want to do the spooky board!
ReplyDeleteSo the thing that you should know about Julia Huni's books is that they ALL take place in the same universe, and in recent years she started having crossovers where the characters from different series meet each other! It's so fun! I've read most of them at this point, except for the Recycled World duology because it's a dystopia and I just have not been in the mood for dystopia (but I know you love it! It's YA, I believe.). It's still on my tbr though! (Plus I actually did read the prequel novella in this series and it was good!) This series basically tells you what happened to Earth and how people got into outer space and why.
The direct sequel to that is the Colonial Explorer Corp. This series is a lot more chill and character-driven than Space Janitor, but it's still good! It follows Siti as she tries to get into the CEC and there's just a lot of exploration of planets and stuff like that.
CEC and Space Janitor take place around the same time, I think. I don't know if there's an official reading order or anything, I just kinda read what I wanted when I wanted lol.
The direct sequel to Space Janitor that also follows Triana is called... actually, idk if I want to tell you because it might be a little spoiler-y (imo at least lol) 😆 It's Tales of a __ Space Janitor. Lol. And then the spinoff series that follows a side character is called Friends of a __ Space Janitor. Lol.
The author's last series is called Krimson Empire. This series was not introduced into the main Space Janitor universe until recently. The main series is standalone, and then you get to see the main characters of this series again in the crossovers.
(She also just released a cozy fantasy, A Dragon Rider's Guide to Retirement, that is not in this universe... yet, at least 👀 lol)
Omg I am so sorry about the essay 🙈😅
omgosh girl DON'T APOLOGISE, this is exactly what I needed! The experts guide to all things Julia Huni 😍😍
DeleteI was actually planning on reading Colonial Explorer Corp for my "X" prompt in the Alphabet Challenge because it's literally one of two books I have on my TBR with "X" in them 😂😂 So I guess these next few months will be a Huni binge for me and that seems like the best thing everrr
I absolutely love when authors write so many books set in the same universe and I have to admit I had no idea she did that as well. I've seen her books on your blog and sometimes on GR but I didn't know it was all interconnected. That makes me even more excited!! 🥺❤️
She even has a YA dystopian novel wow...I guess dreams do come true 😍 Thank you so much for all of this info, you made my day ♥
