Recently Watched - Thrillers, mysteries and crime!

For some reason, I was in a "thriller" mood most of May which you'll see by my choice of movies 😂

Before diving into the movies, I'll just mention that I'm still rewatching The Mentalist (I took a pause during winter/spring) and I'm currently nearing the end of season 6. On one hand, I'm loving it, on the other hand I'm sad because it's almost over 😭

I've been thinking about what show to binge after this one. It needs to be something from that golden era of TV show making, something light enough with a million episodes and of course, have an amazing group of friends doing all sorts of shenanigans. This all made me think of Psych 😂 I think it'd be an excellent summery show to binge, what do you guys think? If you have any other recs, drop them in the comments.

Moving on to 3 movies I watched in the previous month:

CARRY ON ⭐⭐⭐✨

It was weird watching a "Christmas" movie in April but hey, it's not the weirdest thing I ever did 😂 The movie was decent, had some pretty fun action scenes and I loved how smart Taron's character was. It seemed he was in an impossible situation, being controlled by a psycho of some kind, but he did the most he could. He found some creative ways to fight back and those scenes were the best IMO.

I'm glad the romance wasn't even there. From the trailer, I thought it'd have a bigger role in the movie, but that wasn't the case. The story focuses exclusively on Taron and how he beats the bad guys. While it does have some cliches, I still think it's a pretty fun movie to watch if you have nothing else to do.

SPEAK NO EVIL ⭐⭐

Honestly, I only finished this movie because (as per usual) I was infatuated with James McAvoy's acting lol He plays such a great psychopath, it's insane. The rest of the movie is basically forgettable and at times frustrating because THE ADULTS ARE SO STUPID. I can't even count how many times I wanted to scream at them to not do the thing they were about to do 🤦🤦 The plot twist was fine, but I did guess it to a certain extent.

CADDO LAKE ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I will admit that I started watching this only because Dylan O'Brien was in it BUT I STAYED FOR THE PLOT. This is one of the best thrillers I watched because you never truly know what is going on, even after the movie is over, you are still obsessing over the details and probably end up on Reddit coming up with conspiracy theories 😂

I loved how there wasn't a classic villain in this story, but more of an eerie vibe and mystery going on. The two main characters were absolutely wonderful and following them was a fun experience. The end was mind-blowing, as I mentioned, so I would truly recommend this to anyone looking for something twisty and a bit dark.

💬 Have you watched any of the movies above? Do you enjoy watching thrillers? 💬

  1. Oooh I've been curious about Carry-On. I may watch that one. I do like a thriller from time to time. And I'll take a 3.5 star! Lol.

    1. Yes, it's a really good movie! My rating is purely based on me feeling slightly weirded out by watching a winter movie when it's hot outside 😂 Other than that, it's a fun action flick so you should watch it for sure! I was even slightly reminded of Red Eye (which I loved) because a small part of the movie is set on a plane 😂

  2. I used to love The Mentalist. It's been so long since I've seen it that I ought to do a rewatch too. Carry-On was pretty fun - I'm glad Taron Egerton is getting to do more action. :)
