New week means new Monday bookish meme hosted by The Book Date.
After finishing Star Nomad, I took a slight detour and read 2 romance novels with some darker undertones (mainly bullying) because I was curious to see what the fuss is about 😂 Star Nomad (got 3 ⭐ from me) was just fine, it wasn't memorable but it was fun while I read it. I don't know if I'll continue with the series because none of the characters specifically fascinated me.
Binding 13 was all over TikTok and I finally caved in and read it to see why it's so popular. I can definitely see the attraction but I'm too old for it 😂 The writing is repetitive and while I did like the characters, the whole thing felt very fanfiction-y. I still gave it 3 ⭐ though because the writing pulled me in and I definitely didn't feel like I read 600 pages.
Then we have The Darkest Note which was just...ugh...Way too "TikTok dark romance" coded and I hated that the MC so quickly forgot everything this guy did to her (aka made some serious damage to her reputation and did some crazy things to kick her out of school) and switched to wanting to kiss him every time she saw him. GIRL SET YOUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT AND GET REVENGE.

While I don't feel the same pull I did while reading Space Janitor, this book has potential. Currently at 30% in, the story is just okay, but I'm waiting for the crazy shenanigans to start because it's Julia Huni. There has to be some shenanigans 😂
I'll either read the next Colonial Explorer Corps book or, if the first book doesn't wow me, I might switch to The Vanishing Girl 🤔
