New week means new Monday bookish meme hosted by The Book Date.
I needed a non fiction book for one of my reading challenges so I picked up The Sun and Her Flowers and I realized I'm not a poetry person 😂 That fact was confirmed even more when I finished reading Love and Misadventure immediately after...Idk if it's just these books, but I thought they were cringe, not that deep and just plain boring at times. I gave both 2 stars only because I couldn't really hate them enough for them to deserve 1-star ratings.
Then, luckily, I picked up Split, a book that made me very emotional. It's a story about two brothers who went through a horrible childhood filled with abuse because of their good-for-nothing father. This book doesn't gloss anything over - not the emotional, nor the physical torture. I especially loved the inner turmoil of the main character. Jace is constantly torn between wanting nice things for himself and feeling guilty because he fears he'll become his father. From start to finish, Split will keep you rooting for the characters to find happiness and peace.

This weekend has been a tiny bit hectic (so. MANY. GUESTS. My social (and energy) battery has been depleted completely 😂) so I read only 5 pages 😭😭 I'm hoping to pick up the pace during the week.

After "Fatal February," I read 2 poetry books solely for my challenges. Then I had the sudden urge to read sad books about boys with trauma that will break my heart - I already finished one and started the next one. So what would be the next step? I HAVE NO IDEA 😂 I'll wait till I finish These Gentle Wounds and see what happens...

What are you currently reading? What are you planning on reading next?
