Superheroes and Oxford

I watched a little bit of everything in October 😂

To start off, I'm still watching Smallville and I'm currently halfway through Season 2 😄

I found it to be the perfect small-town mystery show to watch whenever I don't know what else to pick up 😂 I'm following several series that are currently on air, which means I have to wait for new episodes. Therefore, this show is the perfect filler for my in-between time or whenever I'm too tired to try anything new.

Moving on, I also rewatched the first season of Jessica Jones simply because I needed to see David Tennant as Kilgrave again 😂

He did that role perfectly. I had no idea someone could be so creepy and charming at the same time, but he pulled it off. I won't be continuing this show because I watched the trailers and don't care for it much. Besides, I truly did only want to see David 😂

I'm also watching the newest seasons of Abbott Elementary and OMITB but don't have any comments on that so far, we'll see when I finish them 😄

The last TV show I'll be mentioning today is a Turkish show called Aynadaki Yabanci

I tend to watch more Turkish dramas during autumn and winter than I do the rest of the year - partly because the best ones come out that time of year, partly because the colder weather is perfect for binging shows and dramatic plot lines.

Besides these, I also watched 3 movies!

I picked these first 2 up because I wanted a cozy fall academia romance...boy was I wrong 😂 THESE MOVIES AREN'T CUTE. They're not bad either, but not cute!! My Oxford Year had the perfect aesthetic (each scene was wallpaper worthy)  - gloomy weather, college friend group, a cute professor, talks about poetry etc. BUT THE ENDING OMG. I will not spoil it, but beware, it's not a rom-com 😂 I gave it 3 and a half ⭐ because I found it to actually be a lovely movie, just not what I expected. Also, I feel like Sofia plays the same character in every movie 😐

Then we have Surprised by Oxford, and I was definitely surprised when I realized this was a religious movie 😂 Absolutely nothing wrong with that, I actually appreciated all the discussion on the existence of God and how much faith can impact your life, BUT again, I was not prepared for it. I thought I'd see a cute couple, walking the halls of Oxford, going on dates, writing essays or something - instead, I got deep philosophical discussions and a main female character I wanted to smack in the face 😅 She was so mean for no reason and just plain rude to people who weren't like her. Honestly, I felt bad for the guy who was nothing but nice and respectful. I'm sad to say the plot felt repetitive, and whatever I enjoyed at the beginning of the movie slowly disappeared as I was more annoyed and even more bored. I gave it 2 stars ⭐

Electric State was, simply put, bad. I could see the actors acting, and it was too cringeworthy. The only one I could bear to see on the screen was the kid - his acting was on point and he stole every scene he was in, and he only had a few. It's a shame the plot was all over the place, because I really enjoyed the topic of the movie, and the visuals were stunning. Honestly, I only finished this movie because I wanted to see what happens to the robots (and the kid), I couldn't care less about Chris Pratt and Millie Bobbie Brown 😂😂 I gave the movie 1 and a half ⭐ - the half is for Stanley Tucci 😂

Have you watched any of these movies or shows?

  1. David Tennant in that role was SO good!! And it was a good show in general! I don't think I've rewatched it since it came out. Definitely rewatched Daredevil a couple times though 😆 I love Charlie Cox as Daredevil 🥰

    1. ahhh David ♥ I was actually planning on watching Daredevil soon because I've heard so many great things about it and there's a superhero hole in my heart that I can't seem to fill 😂 I've already rewatched my fave Marvel movies, there are no new shows that I like so I need something "older" that I haven't watched before 😂
