New week means new monday bookish meme hosted by The Book Date.
Now this book should be the prime example of "don't judge a book by it's cover" because it blew me away. I thought it's going to be some cringy, romance focused shallow Rapunzel retelling (don't get me wrong, I'd enjoy that too 😂😂) but this story was far more complex and serious than that.
It's sort of the opposite of the original because Maisie (Rapunzel) is the thief in this one and she's all badass, doesn't trust anyone, thinks the worst of people etc. Prince Thomas (Flynn) is naive, hopeful, just wants to help everyone and generally gives of Disney princess vibes 😂 I loved this switch because it offered a unique twist while also keeping parts of the original same - I won't spoil all of it for you, but there is a mother Gothel character and a tower, just not in a way you'd expect 😅
I had so little time this past week 😭😭
The royal vibes continue in this "princess decoy" story!
