2025 Mid-Year Freakout Book Tag

I haven't done one of these in a long time 😂 I tweaked a few questions just a tiny bit to better fit my reading habits 😄 Since the title is pretty self-explanatory, I'm just gonna jump into it.

Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2024

I thought I'd have more trouble picking a book for this question but these are truly the only books that stood out to me that much. I liked a lot of books, but these were the only ones I loved. Akarnae has the best found-family, magical library, shenanigans in a fantasy land kind of vibe, while The Blonde Identity is the perfect laugh-out-loud spy novel.

Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far In 2024

Now this one was harder to pick so I decided not to limit myself to 2 books 😂 Forever Reign is the second and last book in this duology that further enriches the story and offers more character depth. The same could be said about Icon and Inferno, as it's also the second and last book that perfectly ties everything together. Raelia on the other hand is the 2nd book in a very long series but it doesn't feel like a filler. It just adds to the never-ending list of crazy things the FMC had to go through to become even more badass  😂

New Releases You Haven’t Read Yet But Want To

These are some I was pretty excited about but still haven't picked up 😅

Most Anticipated Releases for the Second Half of the Year

These all sound super fun and I can't wait to get my hands on them!

Biggest Disappointment

Both of these got 3 stars from me, and both of them severely dropped my opinion of the whole series - they changed some characters I loved into the worst versions of themselves, and generally didn't end in a way I'd enjoy. So while they were't that horrible, I was still quite disappointed because I had much higher expectations.

Biggest Surprise

Imagine my surprise when this 100-page novella managed to outshine many much longer fantasy books in terms of quality world-building and having 2 loveable MCs.

Favorite New Author (Debut or New to You)

This was such an amazing book and after finishing it I added like 5 more books by Alice Ivinya to my TBR because they all sounded equally fun.

Newest Fictional Crush

Ironically enough, these two characters couldn't be more different 😂 Sawyer is this Mr. Tough Guy, spy, and all around very..manly 😂 Beast, on the other hand, is a big softie who loves to read books and just hang out with Beauty.

Newest Favorite Character

I'm currently reading book 4 of this series, but even in the 2nd book I already knew this friendship group - Alex, D.C., Bear and Jordan - will stay in my heart long after I finish reading it. They are always supportive, caring, and would do anything to help their friends.

A Book That Made You Cry

This is the ONLY book that made me cry so far (because I haven't yet read Sunrise on the Reaping 😂), and let me tell you something, my heart was shattered into a million pieces. I can't say no more because a) spoilers b) I'll start tearing up again 😂

A Book That Made You Happy

I've already said so many good things about this series so I won't repeat myself. I'm just gonna say that reading this book reminded me of why I love books so much - this lush world, beautiful friendships, magical schools, and libraries...

The Most Beautiful Book You’ve Read So Far This Year

This cover gives off the perfect cozy vibe - you've got the bookshop, cute dog, warm lights and a gorgeous art style.

Books You Need to Read By the End of the Year

It's obvious why I need to read Sunrise on the Reaping, but the other two are equally important sequels that I should definitely read before the year ends, otherwise I'll forget everything that happened in those series 😂

Favorite Book Adaptation

To be fair, this is the only adaptation I watched, but it's still a really good one! I love the choice of actors, and the plot has been following the books accurately. I'm currently on ep.6 and there were only a few minor changes, but since they fit the story, I don't mind.

If you do the tag as well, feel free to drop the link in the comments, I'd love to read your answers!
