When Life Gives You 🍋 - Horses and Keyboards

Since my last lemon post, lots of exciting things happened. First of all, I had the opportunity to go horse riding! If you grew up on a farm, or have easy access to horses, this probably doesn’t sound too exciting to you, but to me it was such a wonderful experience. Our school organized a small trip to the horse ranch for my 4th graders so both the teacher and I took this opportunity and joined the kids.

Moving on, there was also a very exciting purchase this month!! 😍 I bought a new keyboard, mousepad and mouse - all in shades of green - and let me tell you something, I’M IN LOVE <3 You’ll see my new setup in the picture below. If anyone’s interested, the keyboard is the AULA S99 Pro, it’s got a lovely creamy sound and a lil screen that tells you how much battery you have left. Also, you can connect multiple devices at once (which I find extremely useful because I use my tablet to work as well). The keyboard is a bargain honestly. I bought it off AliExpress (it's also on Amazon) because that was the only supplier that shipped to my country but it can be found in other shops as well.

Now let’s talk books. I had the misfortune of the triple tragedy - I read a 2-star book (The Healing Season of Pottery) and then I DNF-ed the next 2 books I started. 😅 Basically, I confirmed what I said in my review for Welcome to Hyunam-Dong Bookshop - if the characters don’t pull me in, the lack of plot in this genre will bore me to death. That’s exactly what happened when I tried reading Kamogawa Food Detectives (too many food descriptions) and Before the Coffee Gets Cold (my mood for healing fiction already died before picking this one up). 🧠💀

While healing fiction certainly is cozy and positive, it’s also very...slow to read and requires a lot of brain power. Basically, the book is filled with poetic writing and each sentence is meant to be interesting and make you think. My brain definitely needs a break now. Aaand that’s why I’m switching to romantasy. My first pick was this short novel I stumbled upon and it definitely doesn’t require any brainpower. Honestly, the writing is too simplistic and often feels childish. While it is fun and light enough, I probably won’t rate it higher that 3 stars.

To end on a more positive note- I discovered a new cute cafe! ☕ It’s in the next town over so I have to drive about 30 minutes to get to it, but it’s super cute and I can tell I’m gonna go there often this summer.
