Olive Moore has been avoiding her hometown for three years now. But a phone call with her mom has her agreeing to spend the holidays back home with her family, she lets it slip she will be bringing a boyfriend with her. The only problem with that is she has no boyfriend. That is until she meets a handsome-albeit annoying-stranger on the plane who makes her an offer she can't refuse.
Finn Beckett has always had good luck, as demonstrated by the gorgeous blonde he's seated next to on a flight to Aspen. One drink too many leads to Olive spilling her problems in his lap, and he feels compelled to help. So he makes her an offer: he'll pretend to be her boyfriend to keep her family off her back and make this the best Christmas ever.
Olive and Finn spend the next two weeks going on spirit-filled Christmas dates with her family. Their ruse is working perfectly, but Finn can't help but notice Olive is holding something back. Something that could ruin everything.
Their relationship may have taken off smoothly, but with all this turbulence, will they ever make it to baggage claim?
Honestly, I don't know where to start. Olive's family is trash, her ex is trash, her now fake boyfriend is sort of trash, the plot is trash and idk why I gave this book 2 stars instead of 1....probably because I feel sorry for Olive, whom I actually liked.

Let's start off with the family. It's so obvious from the first few chapters what the "big betrayal" was and having to wait almost the whole book to have it openly said was excruciating. The way Olive's family treated this problem was simply horrible. Her sister did something horrific and they kinda glazed over it and pushed her to forgive her simply because they're family. I'm glad Olive didn't fully forgive her by the end of the book because that'd be too much.
Moving on to Finn, aka the fake boyfriend. First of all, this guy accidentally finds out where Olive's having dinner with her family (she's drunk off her ass and tells him but later forgets about it) and then SHOWS UP UNANNOUNCED. They didn't have a deal yet; in fact, she refused to do the fake dating thing, but he showed up anyway and wormed his way in with her family.

His inner monologue was a pain to read. He goes on and on in each chapter about how gorgeous she looks, how she has beautiful blonde hair, great curves etc. She isn't much better. Again, she keeps saying how he's so handsome and how could he even look at her when he's so much prettier than her. They fawn over each other for a gazillion chapters, and that's it! That's the plot.
Oh wait, no, of course there's the third act "break up" where one of them pulls the genius "they're better off without me (even though this doesn't make any sense), so I better break their heart into a million pieces now because it is convenient."

They were both too focused on appearances, which I can sort of get from Olive since she has body image issues and went through a huge transformation because of heartbreak from the past. But him? No excuses whatsoever.
