It's time for the Book Blog Hop! Here's the official description:
The first iteration of the Book Blogger Hop, which was started in March 2010 by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books, ended on December 31, 2012. On February 15, 2013, Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer reintroduced the hop with Jennifer's approval. The hop will begin on a Friday of each week and end on a Thursday of the following week. Every week, there will be a prompt with a book-related query. The aim of the blog hop is to provide bloggers with an opportunity to follow other blogs, discover new books, make friends with other bloggers, and gain new followers for their own sites.
This week's question is:
🐇 "Do you belong to a book club? If so, how many members do you have? How long has it been going on?" 🐇
As all readers, I love the idea of a book club, but when it comes to actually having one...it's quite different 😂 During the past few years, I've been a part of 2 clubs and both lasted a couple of months before slowly disappearing into oblivion 😂
The thing is, I want to read only books I like 😂 Most of my real-life friends read different genres and they read only in Croatian, so our picks are limited. Not to say I didn't enjoy being in book clubs with them (I found some excellent books that way), but we read all sorts of genres and I kinda don't wanna do that anymore 😅 It's fun as a short-term hobby, and we ended up making it more into a hangout that a serious book club (which was super fun), but generally talking, I don't think I'm a book club person.
Besides only wanting to read genres I like, I'm also a mood reader. I have no idea what I'll want to read next. And what if I dislike the book 20% in? Normally, I'd DNF it and move on, but when I was in the club I had to finish it so we could discuss it. At times it felt like an obligation instead of something fun to do with friends.
Again, nothing against book clubs but I wanna read what I wanna read and when I wanna read 😂😂

Which hobbies do you have?

I have always wanted to join one, but I never knew where or how to find one! Though I have a feeling I would end up like you, too- not wanting to read whatever the pick was and fizzling out!
ReplyDeleteGood point! It's kind of hard to find book clubs in real life. 🤔 hahah I guess we're doomed not to be club people 😂
DeleteHahaha that is also why I have never joined a book club either. My mood would never allow it. Lol. However, the new bookstore in town has a couple different book clubs that I will probably join because instead of getting assigned a certain book to read, it's assigned a genre and then you just read whatever book you want in that genre and then you come to the book club and talk about your book! I love that so much! There's been two so far since they opened (thriller and romantasy) but I haven't been to them yet because I've been busy. Lol.
ReplyDeleteomgosh now THAT sounds like a great book club concept - everyone picks a book for themselves, but share a core theme 😍 whenever you end up joining them, I hope you have a great time! You can even drop some info on how it went, I'd love reading about that! 😄
